Public health to me means that everyone, everywhere accessing quality health services. It carries the whole meaning of universal health coverage and sustainable development.
It also means addressing the needs of the people’s health, protecting and ensuring their improvement through awareness-raising, advocacy and health promotion.
I live in Tanzania. As a public health enthusiast, I do advocacy to fight diseases of poverty such as malaria and neglected tropical diseases.
I also work to promote the global health security agenda and the fight against gender-based violence. Furthermore, I do strongly promote and advocate for youth and community engagement in disease prevention through translating complex health information into simple and understandable information.
Currently, I work as a Chairperson of the youth advisory council at African Leaders Malaria Alliance to advocate for youth engagement in the fight against malaria and NTDs and well as UHC promotion.
The situation of public health in the current world is really demanding of SMART, innovative and equitable strategic approaches.
There is vital interplay between public health and people’s daily lives their socio-economic activities which need constant action.
By engaging the community and mostly young people it is beyond any doubt that there will be a sustainable impact for the vision of public health and sustainable development by 2030.
